11 tips to clean and secure your computer for FREE

Experiencing a sudden slow and lagged computer performance ? Noticing the things you were able to do easily earlier are now taking too much time or not functioning at all ? Things could easily be a sign of Malware or possibly a virus infection stealing the juice out of your computer and much more.

Having an infected or compromised computer and not knowing about what to do can often lead you into greater problems down the line. Here’s a quick guide for you to be able to clean up and secure your computer on the Internet.

  1. Consider changing passwords to your Email, Social media accounts and Windows/Mac or other OS you use.
  1. Scan your devices for malware using Malware Bytes, download for Windows/PC here
  1. Scan your PC for viruses/trojans etc. with Kaspersky Internet Security, download for PC here and download for Mobile here
  1. Enable 2 factor authentication on all your online accounts (bank accounts already need an OTP so you may not worry here if its not a serious hack)
  1. Uninstall any new applications you installed in last 2 weeks
  1. Uninstall all browser plugins you installed in last 2 weeks
  1. Move and shred confidential files using File Shredder (FREE), download for Windows/PC here
  1. Move your confidential files to a pen drive
  1. Run this application, and securely delete those files off the PC permanently
  1. Change your Wifi Password/ key and keep the WiFi SSID hidden
